I'm after some help identifying a story I read probably before a lot of my blog visitors were born. It was a serialised story which appeared in a magazine such as Ms or Jackie in the early '80s (or slightly before). It was sent on a planet with air humans couldn't breathe and a girl lived way up at the top of a cliff and her father had made her a mask so that she could breathe. A man fell in love with her but was horrified that when the mask came off she wasn't "pretty" or possibly her face had adapted to breathe the air and was now alien looking to him. I think there were two stories and I think "Mesa" was in the title.
Does this ring any bells with anyone?
Not ringing any bells here, but try asking the 'bitchery' over at 'Smart Bitches, Trashy Books' http://www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com/ they have the most amazing track record with helping people out. It's the 'help a bitch out' segment. Someone is bound to know it.
