You can read Stephenie Meyer's The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner for free on Breetanner.com, for a limited period:
"This site will be live from noon EST on June 7th until midnight EST on July 5th. Please keep in mind that you can only read the book here – you won’t be able to download it to your e-reader or phone. And you can’t print it out.

Some of my fellow UK bloggers have bought and reviewed it already, giving it the thumbs up:

Breaking Dawn in Paperback at Last

The Bookseller reports today that Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn will be released in paperback in the UK and the US on 3 August:

The title will be available from 3rd August priced £7.99, with the publication date coinciding with the American paperback release.

Samantha Smith, Atom editorial director, said: "With everything Stephenie Meyer we try to do everything at the same time, so one set of fans doesn't get the book before the other set of fans. She is one of those true brand authors. Her fans are her fans and they will buy her books no matter what time of the year they come out."

The paperback edition has been a long time coming, with the hardback first published in the UK on 4th August, 2008.

The jacket image on the paperback will remain the same as on the hardback. Smith explained: "We've kept the images consistent across all of our Stephenie Meyer hardbacks and paperbacks. The Twilight Saga images are so iconic—there's such a strong association with them from the fans and the retailers—that I can't imagine changing it."

Twilight Graphic Novel - release date

Announced back in July, the Twilight Graphic Novel now has a release date, at least for part one. From Publishers Lunch today:

Hachette Book Group's Yen Press has announced a March 16 pub date and a 350,000-copy first printing for their first installment of the graphic novel version of Stephenie Meyer's TWILIGHT. "As is typical in graphic novel publishing, due to the length of the prose novel, the book will be divided into two volumes and the release date for the second volume is forthcoming." Illustrations are by Korean artist Young Kim.

The cover and one of the pages can be viewed on the Entertainment Weekly site.

Update: ATOM will be publishing it in the UK.

Stephenie Meyer's Summer Reading Suggestions

From Stephenie Meyer's website:

...but I did discover one really wonderful two-book series. Dreamhunter and Dreamquake by Elizabeth Knox. It is like nothing else I've ever read. The characters are so real, you'll feel like you know exactly what they look like and how their voices sound and what they would say or do in any given situation. More than that, you'll want to hang out with them. Then the world is so amazing and unique. You will want to go there. You will want to walk into "the Place." And you will want to sleep in a dream opera.

I also got an early look at a book I've been eagerly awaiting: Catching Fire, the sequel to Suzanne Collins' phenomenal The Hunger Games. It not only lived up to my high expectations, it surpassed them. It's just as exciting as The Hunger Games, but even more gut wrenching, because you already know these characters, you've already suffered with them. Suzanne takes the story places I wasn't expecting, and she's never afraid to take it to very hard places. Stunning. You won't sleep when you're reading this one. It hits shelves September 1st. I suggest beginning in the early morning and clearing your calendar for the day.

New editions of Twilight saga books...

From BookBrunch:

In addition to the movie tie-in programme for the New Moon movie (scheduled for UK release on 27 November), Atom will publish a limited edition of Breaking Dawn, the last book in the Twilight Saga, as well as journals featuring the cover artwork from the series.

On 25 June, a limited run of Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse B-formats with red-edged pages will be published to coincide with the paperback edition of The Host. On 4 August, Breaking Dawn Special Edition, imported from the US, will feature an exclusive DVD of the Breaking Dawn Concert Series, including a performance by Blue October’s Justin Furstenfeld and a conversation between him and author Stephenie Meyer. Published in hardback, it will also include a reproduction of the personal, handwritten lyrics for "My Never" from Furstenfeld, and a Bella and Edward poster.

A New Moon Collector’s Edition, another US import, comes on 6 October. A deluxe edition, it is slipcased and includes a ribbon bookmark and cloth cover. Alongside it, New Moon: The Complete Illustrated Movie Companion features a behind-the-scenes guide to the making of the movie, including photos of the cast, locations, and sets.

The Twilight Journals are due on 13 October, four journals packaged in a collectible, keepsake tin. Each features the Twilight Saga cover art and includes images and decorative quotes from the books, as well as from the literary classics that inspired them. Then, on 27 October, there's the film tie-in edition of New Moon.

In addition, a Twilight Saga Collection, featuring four hardbacks in a boxed set, will be available June/July 2009, again as a US import.
